The mother of a young man belonging to a family of farmers had cancer. Investigations from the doctors revealed that the disease was caused due to continuous consumption of food from chemical farming. It was here that they decided to save people from the damage caused by chemical farming. With this objective, a organic farming startup was born which in fact they never even dreamed of.
This is the story of two friends of the farmer family living in Jodhpur, Ranu Singh Chadwas and Deepak Singh Oua. Seeing the harm caused by chemical farming, they launched an organic farming startup which is now becoming an inspiration for others to for an organic farming.
Both are currently working to produce healthy and organic crops through organic farming without any chemical use. The thing what is really motivational is they entered into organic farming by leaving a good salary job.
They used to buy crops at a higher price than the market
Both of them, along with Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI) scientists, visited village to village and encouraged the farmers to take up organic farming. They added a list of organic farming farmers of the district to his team. To encourage farmers to produce more organic crops, they purchased crops at prices of 15 to 20 per cent more than the market rate. Currently, more than two thousand families are using organic products made by them.
Started an organic farming business with just ten thousand rupees
Deepak Singh said that he did the research for about one and a half years to know the benefits of organic farming. They met cancer-affected patients in different villages and hospitals in the districts who have suffered cancer due to the use of chemically cultivated crops. Finally when they done with all researches and planned to startup, then they only had 10,000 rupees with them. With the small budget, they took a baby step and formed a company with the name of Sewad organic. Today, with an annual turnover of 20 to 25 lakh rupees, they are growing day by day and are leaving no stone unturned to make people aware of the benefits of consuming organic food.
